The 7 best lidos in Switzerland
17.06.2021

The temperatures are rising, the days are getting longer and we all long for a refreshing swim in cool water. Most of us do not have the privilege of living right on the shores of a lake or river. Hence our team members put their heads together to present you with the 7 most beautiful lidos in Switzerland. Each with a matching Hotelcard partner hotel within walking distance. After all, what could be better than strolling along the lakefront to a nearby lido in your sandals or flip-flops?
Lido Lucerne & Hotel Seeburg
A bathing establishment with a 300 m long beach. - No, we are not in Ticino but at Lake Lucerne, namely at Lido Luzern. Lucerne's oldest and largest lido offers a breathtaking view of Mount Pilatus, Bürgenstock and Stanserhorn mountains. Behind the beach, a inviting lawn invites you to linger. In the adjoining Lido Beach House you will be spoiled with culinary delights: seasonal drinks, delicious BBQ meat and fish dishes and seasonal vegetables from the food market.

After a wonderful day on the Lido, round off the evening at the newly renovated 4* Hotel Seeburg. You reach the hotel after a wonderful 10-minute walk along the lakeshore and the marina. Located directly on Lake Lucerne, it offers you a dreamlike view of the impressive mountain panorama. In order to offer you an unforgettable hotel experience, the renovation work is currently going on. From Friday, 16 July 2021, the Hotel Seeburg will welcome you again in a new design.
Badhütte Rorschach & Hotel Mozart
The wooden bathing establishment stands on pillars in the water and can only be reached by a wooden bridge. Visitors feel carried back 100 years at least. The Badhütte not only offers a special bathing experience but also serves regional delicacies and hosts events such as lectures, concerts and yoga classes. Whether for a swim or a treat, the Badhütte in Rorschach will leave you with a big smile.

The 3* Hotel Mozart is only a 5 minutes stroll away and in a central yet quiet location on the harbour front. The service quality and attention to detail will make sure you have a wonderful experience. Along with your booking you get access to free public transport in the entire St. Gallen-Lake Constance region.
Drei Weiern & Hotel Einstein in St. Gallen
Bathing, history, panoramic views and delicious food - 100 metres above the monastery district of St. Gallen lie the three ponds or Weieren as it is called in German. The five little lakes on Freudenberg hill were created in the 17th century to provide the city with fresh water supply and for the rapidly growing textile industry. Today, the lakes are part of a large recreational area with a magnificent panoramic view of the city and lake Constance. Enjoy a tasteful lunch or some drinks at sunset at the nearby Dreilinden restaurant to enjoy the full experience.

The Drei Weieren is only a short walk away from 4* Hotel Einstein. The hotel is situated right next to the UNESCO acclaimed monastery district at the foot of Freudenberg hill. It is well known for its outstanding kitchen: The Einstein Gourmet was awarded with 2 stars Michelin and 18 points Gault Millau. As a guest of the hotel you furthermore benefit from free public transport.
Bellerive Plage & Hotel Continental in Lausanne
With its incredible location on the shore of Lake Geneva, the Bellerive Plage public swimming pool opened up in 1937 already and has been highly popular with both locals and tourists alike ever since it opened. The facility was further expanded for the national Expo in 1964 and is now the largest open-air swimming pool in Switzerland. Everyone, young and old, is guaranteed to have fun here!

To make the most of your visit to Lausanne, we recommend an overnight stay at the 4* Hôtel Continental. The hotel is located directly in the centre opposite Lausanne train station and only a few minutes away from Lausanne's famous sights, the beautiful Lake Geneva or the historic old town. Right next to the hotel, you can board the Funiculaire (rack railway) to Ouchy and be at the lake in no time.
Lido Zug & Hotel Zugertor
Pure holiday atmosphere awaits you at Strandbad Zug, on the Chamer Fussweg: an open-air bar with delicious cocktails, a varied food menu inspired from all over the world, a sandy beach and a cosy sunbathing lawn to relax on. What more could you need? And the whole thing is free of charge, you don't pay an entrance fee. The Freiruum team also organises a brunch for their guests every weekend, a barbecue once a month and pizza nights.

The pretty, cosy 3* Hotel Zugertor is known for its award-winning restaurant "Chez Ladure" with Swiss cuisine and fish specialities. The hotel is about 5 minutes by bike or 20 minutes walk from the lido.
Bath & Josephine's Guest House for Women in Zurich
A river pool just for women and a hotel just for women - the perfect conditions for a girl trip. As the name suggests, the women's bath Stadthausquai in Zurich with its non-swimmer/swimming pool and sunbathing deck is only open to women during the day. In the evening, the women's bath turns into the trendy Barfussbar, where men can also enjoy a sundowner. The bathhouse was built in 1837, but not for bathing fun, but for personal hygiene.
Shoes off, sound on: The bar lives up to its name, as shoes really do come off and Barfussbad-finches are available for all non-bloaters. Every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, young artists from the region or DJ's perform and provide a trendy beat.

Josephine's Guesthouse for Women is a 15-minute walk away. It awaits you: a short-term home without the restrictions and high prices of an ordinary hotel.
Rhybadi & Vienna House zur Bleiche in Schaffhausen
For 151 years, the Rhybadi on Rheinuferstrasse has offered special bathing fun according to the motto "Together instead of side by side". It is a place for soothing cooling down, winding down for the day as well as for a varied programme. Cooking with friends, yoga lessons in the morning or as Schaffhausen tradition has it: a fine lunch, a short swim and a quarter of an hour of sun-drenched bliss.
